Presidents Day is celebrated on the third Monday in February. It was originally established to recognize and honor President George Washington in 1885. Today, the holiday commemorates past presidents of the United States.

I cannot tell a lie…students will love learning about the exciting life of our first president during the tumultuous days of the American Revolution and responding to what they learn by creating an IQube of this complex man. These ready-to-go templates make it easy to include hands-on learning in your classroom. The IQube includes plenty of writing space for reader response.

President’s Day Penny

Students trace Abe Lincoln art onto a flattened coffee filter, and then paint with brown watercolor. They can learn that darker shades of a color may be made with extra layers of the same paint. Great art lesson that touches on US history with little prep involved. Template is sized for for 9.5″ wide filter but includes full size version that may be adjusted for other needs.

George Washington : President Trivia – U.S. History, Civics and Government

Students will answer 10 True or False questions about George Washington. Each correct response is worth a certain amount of “change”. Students add up their “change” for all true answers. The student who calculates the correct dollar amount, or closest, is the winner!

George Washington Biography Puzzles for Kids- Guess Who? A History Mystery

This pack is a fun way for kids to learn about people from history. Students solve puzzles to collect clues, then they write the clues on the biography to learn more about the mystery person. They use those clues to help them solve the mystery. They can even use books or the internet to help them out. This mystery is all about George Washington, just in time for President’s Day!
