My students loved this! I had so many students racing to try to answer all the clues. They got very competitive, and it was so much fun for all of us! The clues tricked many of them, and I had to help them, but they were strategically thinking and working hard on it.

My students love escape rooms! I like to make it a competition and put them in partners or groups. They compete to see who can finish first, all while learning about testing strategies!
Readzilla –
This is a great resource if you want your kids to keep becoming familiar with basic testing strategies (such as “sleep well the night before” and “read the questions first”) and have fun doing it. It skews more towards the “fun” than “academic” side in my opinion–I think my students spent more time focusing on the puzzles than they did on absorbing the testing tips–but it was still time well spent. I displayed a timer during the test and offered a prize to any team who was able to “escape the room” before time ran out. I saw students participating who normally NEVER do much in class. (I’m looking at YOU, Mr. “I just want to sleep every day.” You did GREAT with this!) This activity was a big win (and I loved that all I had to do for prep was print a bunch of stuff out–no cutting or laminating necessary, for those who don’t want to). Thank you for putting this together! I plan on using this near the start of next school year, too!
