My students enjoyed this, however I’m not sure it fostered any high order thinking or understand of the actual content. They had fun with it though.

The Active Pedagogue –
I think I want to use Escape Rooms for every topic now. This is a great end of topic activity for after students have already learned about the Battle of Bunker Hill. I didn’t realize that at first, but luckily we were not too far from Bunker Hill and most of my students already knew all about it anyway. I used this as an activity on one of those winter days right before a break that are so hard to keep kids engaged. And wow! They were definitely engaged! We set a timer up on the board and they went to work. Unfortunately, they were not able to get out in time but even after the timer went off, they asked if they could keep going until they finished. They missed a bit of their PE class because they wanted to keep going. Now, think about that! My students BEGGED me to let them miss part of PE so they could finish their social studies work! (These were athletic students, too. They loved PE!). This was a great resource and I definitely want to try it again (and perhaps more that are like this).
