Constitution Comprehension Code Escape Room – Close Reading Passage

Description

Wow your students with the U.S. Constitution Comprehension Code Escape Room! Students will complete 4 reading comprehension tasks which, if done correctly, will lead them to a 4-dIgit code. Students will LOVE this close reading challenge! Great addition to your Branches of Government unit.

Topics include: US Constitution, Constitutional Convention, Branches of Government, James Madison, Articles, Preamble, and Amendments

Students will work individually (or in pairs) and race to see who can crack the code first! A friendly competition always increases engagement. After completing each “task” students will earn a “CLUE” to shade boxes on their answer grid. In the end, the grid will reveal a four-digit code!

The Close Reading Activities in this packet allow students to work on comprehension skills after reading the passage several times searching for evidence. As students complete each task, they will reveal a mystery word to unscramble and a new clue.

This activity can be used for individual work, partner activities, anticipatory sets, unit review, sub plans, extension activities, early-finishers, or just for fun the day before break.

A police report is read and your “lead detectives” have less than an hour to solve the case. (Time can be changed to whatever works best for you)
