Description

The Weather and Climate Breakout Puzzle Stations are sure to be a hit with your students! Students will move around the classroom visiting six stations and answering 18 fill in the blank questions.

Each puzzle station has its own decoder and three questions per puzzle. Hint cards are included in case you need them. This is a great front-loading activity that allows students to get some facts while previewing key vocabulary words, people, places or events that you will teach throughout your unit.

No prior knowledge needed. Students learn as they decode! Just a fun way to gather some quick facts about the topic.

Students will work individually (or in pairs) and race to see who can solve the puzzles and breakout first! A friendly competition always increases engagement.

Each answer will be decoded and recorded on a student answer sheet. The final answer will be a word that needs unscrambled. The early finisher activity is a word search puzzle. Each answer that is decoded will be found in the word search.

This activity can be used for individual work, partner activities, anticipatory sets, unit review, sub plans, extension activities, early-finishers, or just for fun the day before break.

Super Easy Prep! All you have to do is hang the 6 decoder pages!

7 reviews for Weather and Climate Puzzle Stations Breakout

I like using these puzzles with my 4th and 5th graders. I also like the section of teacher help rather than just giving an answer key. The packet shows the teacher how to solve the puzzles.

  2. Sharmane N. –

A fun and engaging resource perfect early finishers.

  3. Jessica A. –

This was a great activity for when we had rotations outside of normal class time. My students leaned in to the challenges of solving the puzzles and had a good time. It took my 5th graders about 40 minutes to solve all the puzzles (most didn’t get to the word search in that time but can for fun later.)

  4. Lauren C. –

My students and I LOVED this resource. I made it into a competition. Whoever finished all of the puzzles and found the answer first, won a prize. It was such a fun way to review the concepts in the unit.

  5. Shauna Harris –

My kiddos LOVED this! They were truly excited and very surprised to learn that the word search word were the ones they had to find the answers to! Awesome!

  6. Christopher M. –

This was a great end of year activity and resource to use with my students. It quickly allowed me to continue bridging the gap from losses in learning that occurred in their previous grade level due to covid-19. Students immediately became engaged in this activity and had no difficulties navigating in. I provided students with a printed packet of all student work pages, eliminating the need for them to look at a computer screen for the day.

    Excellent
